The Importance of Tholil

WHAT: The direct translation of the Tamil word “tholil” is “career” (or path in life). Tholil is an event dedicated to the Tamil speaking community that provides an opportunity to network with successful Tamilians across the GTA. This event caters to many different fields in terms of volunteering, employment opportunities and growing your business or entrepreneurs. This event gives attendants the chance to explore the job market and career options within the Tamil diaspora. ​

WHY: Tholil will provide individuals the platform to develop their skills. This event will consist of working professionals with a thorough understanding of the Canadian job market and the resources to help others succeed. This event was designed to act as a bridge between entrepreneurs, small businesses and customers to uplift and encourage Tamilians. A group of  influential panelists will provide insights about their field, share their success stories and offer guidance. This will help attendees identify different careers and explore their options. ​

WHO: Everyone is welcome and there are no age restrictions. This is an inclusive event for the Tamil-speaking community whether you are a student, graduate, unemployed, or recent immigrant, and everyone in between. It is a safe space to actively pursue your dreams, while also exposing yourself to new opportunities and initiatives within the community.

The event will take place on May 30, 2020, from 10:30 AM to 7 PM at The Edward Village Hotel at 185 Yorkland Blvd, North York, ON M2J 4R2​
