Tholil, an expo for entrepreneurs, businessmen and those looking to volunteer - is a step towards bringing the Tamil community together. But how can volunteering help bring a community together? Well, the basis of volunteering is to provide food, shelter, and services to the less fortunate. But how will that help bring the Tamil community together?

1. Empowers the community:
When you volunteer for the community - you are building a better relationship amongst its members. At the same time, you are also working towards the issues that are plaguing the community altogether.

2. Ends loneliness:
Volunteering can help a community and its members from feeling lonely. According to a study by the magazine, Small Business, the percent of people in the UK and US who admit to being lonely are at least 45 percent. Besides, one in 10 people also admit to having no close friends. Loneliness and social isolation are two of the biggest issues faced by people today. The easiest way to resolve this issue is by volunteering and helping the people who need it the most. A lot of people just want someone to talk to, and what could you do at that point? Be there for them! Volunteer!

3. Emotional stability helps people with mental illness:
Imagine helping your community that has faced several human rights issues in the past. Helping people with a scarred past (involving human rights issues, genocides, mass murders, and other evils) is a difficult task and by volunteering to help them you are making them emotionally stronger. In fact, they may also be suffering from mental health issues. Stepping up for your Tamil community and helping them is the best way of giving back to the community that raised you.

4. Volunteering can help you build a network in your community:

For those who are new to GTA, the best way to connect with people with similar backgrounds is volunteering. That’s where Tholil steps in and will be helping you build your Tamil network and be introduced to people who will become your new home.
